Day 434: December 8, 2025 – Leleuvia Island, Fiji
Another day, another beautiful island in the South Pacific. Yesterday we anchored at sea, then took a smaller tender boat to a resort on Leleuvia Island. It’s a private island and it was low season, so we had the island to ourselves.

As most of my blog readers know by now, I am terrified of having my head under water, so I have avoided going in the waters of all these islands. But these clear beautiful waters were hard to resist. After some gentle coaxing and support, my friend Ruthanne got me into knee-deep water.
I knelt down on the sand to make y’all think I was in water up to my chest, but the clear waters gave me away!

Here I am pretending to swim, how do you like my form? I have a whole squad of shipmates who have volunteered to be my water angels to help me get over my fear, so who knows, I may be applying for diving certification any day now!

I’m not sure why you don’t come up in my emails anymore but at least I can access the blog!!!
Just now catching up.
O The Birds!!!! Such beautiful, exotic, birds!!! And the children in Fiji…precious…
What a journey. Swimming is really pretty easy…Just kick your feet and use your arms to spread that water open…you got it…
I could live in that water!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Staying at sea is probably the best place to be right now!!! Its getting pretty interesting around the world. Our felon leader thinks he can take over other countries….Greenland is on his list next…
Have you ever heard or seen a Java Rice Bird? I had a pair years ago..they have a fascinating song and mating dance.
Safe travels!!!
Fun!
Leleuvia sounds like a hidden gem! Itβs great to see how you’re pushing yourself outside your comfort zone with the water. I bet those beautiful, clear waters make it a lot easier to take the plunge, even if it’s just knee-deep for now. Keep going!
That looks like my idea of paradise!!! And good for you for beginning to lose some of your water fears. Start by learning how to float on your back — that becomes your safety net for being able to keep your head above water if you should ever get knocked off your feet, plus it’s SO relaxing! π
I remember taking you out on a boat to shoot pics of the pelicans… you were terrified ! What a beautiful island ! i love the pic of the bungalows with the trees..
I too have a fear of water. I do manage an aqua aerobics class where I am chest deep in water but I always have one foot on the ground and the wall within touching distance! The clear waters where you are now look so inviting π
