Day 441-442: December 15, 2025 – Pago Pago, American Samoa
“Monday, Monday, can’t trust that day
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way“
–The Mamas and the Papas
Yesterday was Monday December 15. Today is also Monday December 15. Monday came and refused to yield to Tuesday. That’s because en route from Samoa to American Samoa, we crossed the International Date Line, an imaginary line that serves as a boundary between one calendar day and the next. Most of it is a straight line, but in some places such as Polynesia, it zigzags to accommodate international borders and preferences.
On the ship, when making plans for the week, we have to be sure to specify “on the first Dec 15″ or “on the second Dec 15″ to reduce confusion.

We’ll have to relinquish the extra day on our way back to Australia in January.

Enjoy the extra day! Happy holidays from Fairlea Drive! I’d love to be in the South Pacific with you right now, we have had a stretch of a really cold weather and snow. Unusual for this early in the season…Brrrr🥶
I am missing the Rochester snow…
Who makes up these lines anyway?
A toddler with a crayon, most likely. 😂
