Day 587: May 10, 2026 – Java, Indonesia
The Prambanan temple complex we visited this week was filled with groups of schoolchildren on fieldtrips. At least half a dozen groups approached me, asking very politely, if I had some time to help them practice their English. When I said yes, they took turns asking me questions in English. What is your favorite vegetable? How do you like the temple? Where are you from? What is your hobby? How did you get here? One group then asked if they could sing for me, and put on this sweet performance.

The temple tour gave me a look back into long-ago history, and a glimpse into our future.
