Farewell Lady Odyssey

Day 768-769: Nov 2-3, 2026 – Sihanoukville, Cambodia

On the night we disembarked from our home, about 70 of us gathered for a last meal at the New Beach Hotel, with a view of the Odyssey across the bay. In the midst of this gathering, a fierce thunder and lightning storm broke out, an apt metaphor for this chapter of our lives. One of the youngest members of the Odyssey family, 17-year-old Aliona, captured these spectacular shots of the Odyssey in a storm.

The next day, a handful of us returned to the same spot to bid good-bye at the final sail-away. We waved flashlights to the skeleton crew left on board.

This video of the Odyssey’s final sail-away is bringing us all to tears. It was captured by LBN News as the Odyssey disappeared into the night.

We’re not quite sure what happens to her from here. Rumor has it that she is on her way to auction in Singapore. There are still some flickers of hope that it may be resurrected by an investor interested in taking on the project. For my part, I am so exhausted from the uncertainty and chaos, I find it hard to imagine re-joining under any circumstances. But never say never.

I need a “Basia’s guide book for this next chapter!?”

  3. It was a pleasure sailing with you.
    See you later.
