Canaries were the stars of the show for me in the Canary Islands, but the islands are also home to a number of other birds. Of the 28 species I was able to photograph, 14 were lifers for me (birds I had not seen before)..

My sister and her husband spend winters on Lanzarote and I forwarded the link to her. We both loved your pictures!!
Thanks for sharing the link, always happy to know I have more readers!
Amazing that you find their names and also document where you find them . Your log must be incredible !!! I love the bird pictures .
Us birders maintain our life lists online, and we have to provide an exact location for it to be accepted. So I’ve become meticulous about documenting it.
The Eurasian Thick-Knee is a striking bird. I love its facial markings. All beautiful photos. The little plover does look weighed down with all those bands.
Just spectacular. Such a beautiful variety. I so love birds!!!
Thank you.
They’re beauties, aren’t they.
I love the “Thick-knee” name, it gave me a chuckle. There was a second plover along with this one, and it did not have any bands and looked smaller. I wondered if it was a juvenile that hadn’t gotten into the banding system yet.
Lots of awesome finds! The Thick knee is a uniquely marked bird. Love the two Chaffinch’s, the Wagtail and the Blue Tit. The Plover looks like it’s been to the Eras tour, lots of Swiftie bracelets! 🙂 You have made my rainy day brighter!
Lol lol, the Swiftie comment is the funniest thing I’ve heard all day! The Kentish is in decline on this island because of habitat loss and disturbance, so it looks like there is some serious tracking of it going on.
So many birds! Wow!
Great pictures!
