Top Of The Rock

A couple hours south of Malaga, Spain, is the British territory of Gibraltar, home to the Rock of Gibraltar.

The Rock of Gibraltar

The Rock towers 1000 feet above the Mediterranean sea. Cable cars whisk you to the top in 6 minutes. It is possible to walk up also; it takes about 2-3 hours. I was considering walking until I saw the terrain and decided it wasn’t for me.

The 360-degree views of the Mediterranean sea are stunning.

View of beach and turquoise waters from the top of the rock.

Most of the terrain at the top is part of a nature reserve, where Barbary macaque monkeys roam freely. I think this one was practicing the balance beam for the next Olympics!

My only regret was that I didn’t allow enough time for Gibraltar; I could have easily spent another full day here. But I had already made arrangements for my next destination: Morocco. Moving on to a different continent!

Your little Macaque baby is going to have a tooth fairy visit soon. 🙂
    Enjoy your sojourns!

    1. LOL, I love it that my photos are so detailed, that you can tell a monkey’s dental history from them! 🙂

  4. Good on you, Basia you go everywhere. I love Gibraltar. It looks like it loves you too.

Basia, I was there with my sister Judy and family back in 2013. It was a cool place to walk around and see the monkeys. We took a Spain trip that year. Went to several cities. We also spent a week in a cottage near the castle in Granada, Spain. It was pretty!

    1. Yes, this part of the world is beautiful. I hope to come back and spend some more time.
