Day 73: December 14, 2024 – Colón, Panama
At the Colón port in Panama, 14 of us adrenaline junkies gathered for some zip lining fun. This is my 5th time zipping (twice in Alaska, and twice in Costa Rica) and each one has been a little bit different.
This was one where you zip from one platform to another, as opposed to just doing one long zip from top to bottom, like I did in Alaska. It required a bit more skill and strength. On one of the segments, my line was going so fast, they had to emergency brake me, which ended with a hard landing on the platform. An air bag would have been very helpful! After that, I was worried about going too fast again, so I overcompensated by braking too much (pushing down on the bottom line with one hand slows you down), and ended up stopping it completely, leaving myself hanging on the line before reaching the next platform. One of the guides had to reel me in.
By the time we got to this platform, which required climbing up a ladder, I was definitely feeling my age! But the whole thing was a blast. Looking forward to my 6th one, whichever country that might be in.
