Pulling into Arica, our first Chile port, we were greeted by a spectacular welcoming committee. Dozens of dolphins leaped and danced around us, giant jellyfish floated below, and an entire battalion of Inca Terns swirled above.

Hundreds of South American Sea Nettle Jellyfish gently floated by. Their name comes from their sting, which resembles a bee or nettle bush. Some of their spiraling arms were probably 5 feet long.

Thousands of Inca Terns swirled around us and occupied every available space on small boats docked in port.
