Elephant Seals

Also spotted on the way to the penguin rookery in Patagonia: Southern Elephant Seals. They look like placid slugs here, but are apparently extremely aggressive and territorial, with bloody fights breaking out between males protecting their harem of as many as 50 females.

    1. Yes, they were definitely in resting mode there, they were barely moving at all.
