Day 58: November 28, 2024 – Saint Maartin Island, Caribbean
A brilliant example of marketing: take a beach that lies directly underneath the flight path of an international airport—something most people would choose to avoid—and convince them it should be on their bucket list. I had seen news clips of Maho Beach on Saint Maartin Island, where the planes get within 100 feet of a beach and had always been amused by them. When we docked in Saint Maartin, of course a group of us had to go check it out. Plane arrival and departure times are helpfully posted in local bars and restaurants.

KInd of like bird watching, but with very big birds.
