Life is short, art is long. That was the pearl of wisdom imparted by Tommy, our hop-on hop-off tour guide in Liverpool. It definitely applied to Liverpool’s most iconic celebrities; the city is fiercely proud of its Beatles heritage.
This is the only tour I’ve been on that covered all the Beatles classics. Tommy kicked things off with a rendition of She’s Got a Ticket To Ride. Then, each song correlated to a spot we were visiting. Penny Lane. Strawberry Fields. Where they lived. Where they wrote. Where they played. The best part was Tommy’s exuberant performances. Here are a few. I think the Beatles would be proud.
When I said to Tommy that he represented his city well, he proclaimed, “This city runs through my blood!” So what better person to represent England in the Faces of the World Gallery?

What a hoot!
He totally was such a character.
One of the best tours to do there is the National Trust one to the homes of Lennon & McCartney.
Yeah there seemed to be quite a few tours dedicated to the Beatles, including one called Magical Mystery Tour. I like the Beatles well enough, but I wouldn’t say I’m an uber-fan, so I was looking for a Liverpool tour in general. It just happened to be heavily focused on the Beatles.
Zabawna sytuacja i zabawny pan. Were drinks included in the tour?
There were not, probably should have been, that would have really made it merry.
Best comment ever! 😂
Hahaha! Best comment ever! 😂
How fun this must have been !!!!
I have to admit, even I who can’t sing, was enticed to sing along!
The portrait is fabulous!
He was easy to take good pictures of, with all his antics.
Love your Penny Lane picture
Thanks Rami. That’s my attempt at being theatrical.
