Day 42: November 13, 2024 – Sea Day
Today is the last day of our 7-day transatlantic crossing and I’m happy to report that it has been mostly easy cruising. I was a bit worried about being in the middle of an ocean for so long, with no land in sight and the prospect of a rough crossing. But it went by very quickly, and although today is probably the worst day we’ve had for rolling, so far I haven’t been sick at all.
On port days, I’m up early and usually the first one down the gangway for my shore excursion. I spend the entire day exploring and come back exhausted. So sea days feel like vacation days, time to catch up on all kinds of projects and errands as well as just chill.

Here is what I did on my sea days:
- Watched my shipmates showcase their talent in a talent show.
- Tried out the steam room. I LOVE IT that the ship has a free steam room. I’m aiming to make it a daily visit.
- Brushed up on my UNO skills (even won two games, I might add…)
- Finished a guidebook I had been preparing for my shipmates
- Tried out the spa for the first time, with a haircut and a pedicure in ocean blue in honor of my home in the middle of the sea.
- Attended a comedy show and a cooking demonstration.

- Watched Masked Boobies and flying fish frolic outside my window
- Took part in a very popular Cabin Crawl, organized by my friend Eddie, where residents made the rounds of various cabins to get ideas for customizing their own cabins
- Got interviewed for an LGBTQ promo video

And so many other things I didn’t get around to: Veteran’s Day celebration, cocktail party, line dance class, poker lessons. I’ll have to catch them on our next sea day!
Up next: Barbados

Not being sassy, but genuinely wondering what kind of errands can be done during a transatlantic crossing?
Oh girl, there’s a whole village to navigate here! Return books to library and pick up more. Stock up on munchies at the mini mart. Head to business center to use printer/scanner to make copy of my passport. Haircut and pedicure at the spa. Stop by guest services to see if anyone found a water bottle I left somewhere. Get prescription refilled at the medical center. Find where the steam room is. Stop by shore excursion desk to plan my next outing. Stop by concierge to get someone to come up and fix a problem with my shower. Locate another resident’s cabin who had offered to lend me a tool I needed to fix my glasses. Laundry room to do a couple items I wanted to do myself (rather than put them through housekeeping laundry service). Plenty of errands that need doing!
Wow–you had me at library!
So glad the days at sea were uneventful. That would be the part that I am most apprehensive about!
Yes, I was too, I’ve been seasick before. Fortunately, all was good this time.

The cabin crawl is an excellent and clever idea. Eddie was thinking with that one!
Eddie is a smartie! ๐
