Some Odyssey History

Some interesting trivia about our ship, Odyssey.

Trivia #1:
You know that illusion where a magician puts a person in a container, seemingly saws them in half, then they step out whole again? That’s what happened to our ship in 2008. The ship (which was then called Braemar) was sliced in half, a 30 meter extension was inserted in the middle, and then was joined back together. Watch the amazing stretching process in this video. It’s a hell of a surgical procedure.

Trivia #2:

Remember back in 2020, in the early days of the pandemic, when a cruise ship wandered around from port to port in the Caribbean, refused entry because of a COVID outbreak on board? Yep, that was our ship again. Cuba finally allowed the ship to dock so passengers could disembark. I remember thinking at that time, “wow, they got a free trip to Cuba!” 🙂

Wonder what amazing new things this chapter of the ship’s history will bring…
