Everywhere I travel, I see rubbish in the streets, and it drives me crazy. My fellow shipmate Beena and I were lamenting the trash in front of our shipyard in Belfast, so we decided to take matters into our own hands (pun intended) and do a mini trash pick-up.
Several others have since joined the trash brigade and a new name was born: The Trashy Sailors (thanks John H, for the creative naming!). I am hoping this will be the start of an ongoing Pick Up Trash Around the World initiative, where we leave each port just a little cleaner than we found it.
(An advantage of wearing sunglasses is no one can tell if your eyes are shut at the exact moment the camera clicks!)

Fabulous. You’ll need some special cleaning designated clothes all of you trashy sailors. The more outrageous the better. At least you’ll be noticed.
Angel 😇
lol lol 🙂
I’m with you all the way on this. I hate trash! I organize cleanups in my neighborhood and am constantly picking up miscellaneous litter.
What a great global initiative! Kudos to you all!
What I love about your personality, Basia, you see a problem you talk about it and then you do something about it. You are a born leader. They are lucky to have you.
Aaawwww…you are so sweet, Mer. I am so not happy that you won’t be joining us on this journey…
Very cool ! Love the sunglasses!!! You need a pair!
I definitely do. I need to find out from Melody where she got hers.
