Turtle Hospital

On day 3 of volunteering with the Turtle Conservation Project, we gathered turtle food and checked in on some turtles that were in quarantine, a kind of turtle hospital.

The two current residents of the hospital are Taleah and Marquita. Taleah is here because she has a deformity. Marquita lost a limb after an attack by a dog. Both turtles will stay quarantined from the others for now. Once they are bigger and can better defend themselves, they will gradually be released back into the wild.

Turtles!!! 🤔 Do you mean Tortoise!👍
Turtles swim in the sea, Tortoise’s sink in the sea 🤔
    Keep on trucking😎

    1. Thank you Hazel! I did not know that…..

    2. No, I meant turtle. Tortoises ARE turtles. There are 13 families of turtles; tortoise is one of them. During our volunteer work and locally, we referred to them as just turtles. “The American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists uses “turtle” to describe species of the order Testudines, whether land-dwelling or marine,” Though perhaps the term is used differently in NZ?
