Day 252: June 7, 2025 – Big Island, Hawaii
Hawaii’s most active volcano, Kilauea, has been erupting on and off since December, with the most recent activity happening just as we were making our way to the island. We were keeping our fingers crossed it would still be spewing lava fountains when we got there. But no such luck; the day we were there it was only venting, with no lava flow. Still a spectacular sight though!

What we were hoping to see (picture from two weeks ago):

I joined my friends Steven & Ann in tooling around the Big Island in their rented Jeep Wrangler convertible. After checking out the volcano, we explored a couple other scenic spots on the island.
