I’m usually pretty good about checking the weather forecast before I head out in a port. But on this day in Labuan Bajo, I didn’t.

Walking through town I get caught in a rain shower without any rain gear. I try to wait it out under awning, but it doesn’t look like it’s letting up anytime soon, and I need to get back to the ship on time, so I head back out in the rain. A few minutes later, a young woman catches up with me, asks me where I’m headed and then invites me to share her umbrella. Her name is Fiana and she works at one of the diving shops in town.
