Tuk-Tuking in the Philippines

Days 605-618: May 28-June 10, Coron and Manila, Philippines

We spent two weeks in the Philippines, in Coron and Manila, with a few sea days between ports. Here are some memorable moments.

Tuk-tuks (also known as autorickshaws or tricycles), three-wheeled vehicles used for public transport, were everywhere in the Philippines. In Coron, Ruthanne and I took one into town.

On the ride back to the ship, this tuk-tuk driver was so jazzed that he had some ship people as passengers. He said he’d been hearing that there was a cruise ship in town, but no one from the ship had been in his tuk-tuk yet.

Philippines was celebrating its Independence Day when we arrived, with a huge deployment of army, navy, coast guard, first responders, search and rescue teams and various other dignitaries parading in the streets.

The Manila Dunkin’ had an extra-special treat for me — a giant pillow shaped like one of my favorite Dunkins’: Bavarian Kreme. You can even see the little bit of Bavarian Kreme spilling out, like it does in the real thing!
